The International Orienteering Federation has appointed Christine Brown (Right Pic) as Senior Event Adviser and Cathy McComb (Left Pic) as Assistant Event Adviser for the Junior World Orienteering Championships in New Zealand in November 2029.

This is a great honour and possibly the first time that two women have taken on the two roles together.

Christine was the national controller for JWOC in 2007 at Dubbo and has attended numerous JWOCs in the past, usually in the role of jury member.

Cathy was the IOF Event Adviser for Oceania Sprint Championships in New Zealand in 2024. Between them they have close to 80 years of experience in orienteering. These appointments are a great honour for orienteering in Tasmania.

The races in New Zealand will be set in the Canterbury region on the South Island, with Christchurch as the host city and they will most likely be held during the summer in the southern hemisphere – probably in November.

The 2029 JWOC will mark only the second time that the Junior World Orienteering Championships has taken place outside Europe.
