This is the third Southern Local for 2024. There are four courses, Long, Medium, Short and Novice. This is the Southern Tasmanian “World Orienteering Week” event and accordingly beginners are particularly welcome.

While pre-registration is common for regular orienteers we will have extra maps ready as well as additional helpers to allow for newcomers to just turn up on the day. Newcomers taking part in their first Orienteering event compete for free.

This event will use the areas east of the assembly point which include both new growth and old growth pine forest, ancient sand dunes and a network of tracks. Mark Hey has recently combined part of the old Pittwater map with the existing 7 Mile Beach map for this event.

As a World Orienteering Week bonus we will have saveloys in bread with sauce for all competitors. In addition – we want to update the Australopers group photo on the OT website. So can all Australopers members wear their ALT tops and / or windjackets and be present at about midday after their run for the photo.

The assembly area is the easternmost public carpark at the end of Surf Road, accessed from Pittwater Road – just east of Hobart Airport.

You can start anytime between 10:00 and 11:30 am.
