Our annual September training camp is being held at St Helens from the 2nd-4th of September and open to all Tasmanian junior orienteers aged 12 to 18. It is considered compulsory for schools' team members and highly encouraged for all juniors, especially those considering competing at the forthcoming Australian Championships or Oceania events.
A bus will leave Hobart at 5pm on Friday, 2nd September and travel to Campbell Town to pick up any northern based athletes before heading on to St Helens. Accommodation is at the St Helens Big 4 Caravan Park. Coach extraordinaire, Jon McComb, ably assisted by Anthony Stoner have planned a variety of activities to make the most of the time we have, including a full day on maps at St Helens and Rajah Rocks on the Sunday.
Additionally, we have time planned for nutrition, goal setting, armchair activities and a special session devoted to competition focus with the guru, Jo Mitchell. Camp kitchen wizard, Matt Groves, has volunteered to cook up a feast on Saturday night.
The bus will return to Hobart around 3:45pm on Sunday 4th, again stopping at Campbell Town for northern athletes. Cost will be $110 and must be paid through Eventor by the 29th of August, with transport, accommodation, most food and these amazing opportunities included. Any juniors who are not members of the schools' team will need to also complete the parental consent form on Eventor and return it to the team manager prior to the camp.
