Southern School Champs

Wed 24 March - Risdon Brook ... see Risdon Brook location map and details

There are the same courses on offer as previous weeks. However, for students to be official they must run their allocated class (or higher). The championship classes are as follows:

Course

Class

Long

Male & Female, Grades 12 and below.

Medium

Male & Female, Grades 9 and below. Groups.

Short

Male & Female, Grades 6 and below. Groups.

For example, a student in grade 8 may run the medium or long course, but would be unofficial if they ran the short course.

The ‘groups’ class include any students running in pairs or more, any age or gender combination.

For any student who would like to be official, but is nervous about running a higher course than they have been in the series; the organisers admit that some of the courses have been on the hard side of their designated difficulty level (the Long has been especially tough at times), the courses for this event have been set over a very small area and will be on the easier side of their designation.  We encourage all students to ‘step up’ if they are unsure.

Weekly Competition
In the Term 3 competition last year, SportIdent electronic punching was introduced with great success. We will be using the same system this term with an added bonus. Each week, one leg of each course will be designated the ’one hit wonder leg’.  The male and female student on each course who completes that leg in the fastest time will be the weekly competition winner and will be able to claim their prize the following week or at the final event of the series, the Southern Schools Champs.

The weekly winner will be announced on http://southschoolso.blogspot.com/ the day after the event.
