New requirement for all competitors to be registered with Orienteering Tasmania commenced in 2009
You must be or become a full or casual member of Orienteering Tasmania to enter an event
Casual membership costs $5 juniors and $10 seniors and will last for 2 months
Full membership costs $20 juniors, $40 seniors or $100 family and lasts for 12 months

Sun 1st November 2009 - Gunners Quoin - Southern Local
Come and run at Gunner Quoin there will be course short and long ranging in difficulty to suit everyone. The clime has even been kept to a minimum.
Organisers: Helena & Wayne Griggs, Rachel Gosnell and Kristin Raw
Getting there: From East Derwent Highway, take Baskerville Road at Old Beach and after a couple of kilometers turn right into Gunners Quoin Road and proceed to end of road and through the property with solar powered gate and go to the very top of the hill. Park near registration.
Courses: Beginners, short, medium and long.
The map: 1:15000 1987 Mercury-Walsh print with some feint tracks less than feint and some tracks not marked, but plenty of reliable contours and point features providing good running especially for the longer courses. Allow 6 minutes to draw your course from master maps (i.e. old technology!)
Start times: 10-12 with course closure at 2 pm. Enter on the day.

Choice of three courses with easy and moderate navigation or two score courses for more confident navigators.
This is an excellent opportunity for BEGINNERS to come and get a taste of orienteering

Sun 22nd November 2009 - Richmond 'Daisy Bank' - Southern Local Christmas Event
Directions: From Hobart travel towards Richmond, passing Prospect House on the
left and turning left into Middle Tea Tree Road. After 1 Km turn right into Daisy
Banks property and follow signs.
Start Time: Mass start at 10.00 am, finishing at 11.00 am. Be there at 9.55 for the briefing.

Event Type: This will surely be the weirdest Christmas orienteering event ever! The emphasis will be on having fun rather than serious competition. There will be a Christmas based string course for the children. A special "launch" will take place after the event?!!!? Bring a lunch hamper and enjoy the company of your fellow orienteer’s after finishing the course.
.Note: The recent rains have stimulated grass growth at Daisy Banks. Bring gaiters or otherwise be prepared to pick seeds out of your o socks.

Sat/Sun 28th/29th November 2009 - TBA - Tas Rogaining Champs
Rogaining Tasmania invites you to compete in the 2009 Tasmanian Rogaining Championship (24 hr event), or an associated 8 hr event, to be held on an area of privately owned farm land to the south and east of Hamilton.
The terrain is predominantly lightly timbered grazing land so pleasant walking and running conditions are assured. The course setters are Greg Hawthorne, Nigel Davies, Graham Sargison, john Fox and Hugh Fitzgerald. They are applying their considerable course setting skills to ensure the event is both challenging and enjoyable.
