coronavirus-covidOrienteering Tasmania recommends that at this stage, local and OST events should go ahead. We generally have less than 100 competitors spread over several hours, are not in close contact, and are outdoors.

  • The Local event at Coningham this weekend will be going ahead.
  • The Night-O and OST3 at Coles Bay on 29 and 29 March will go ahead. Please enter online for the Coles Bay events by midnight on Monday 23 March.
  • The Northern Twilight event at Windsor Park on 25 March is cancelled.
  • The Northern School Championships on 27 March is cancelled, as schools have cancelled off-campus excursions.
  • The Tasmanian School Champs on 4 April at Stonehenge is cancelled.

Organisers and competitors please note that the following actions will take place:

  • Water - cups will not be provided; competitors should bring their own water supply; there will be no drinks controls.
  • Hand-washing or sanitising facilities will be provided if possible; competitors please bring your own hand sanitisers.
  • No BBQs or social events will be held in conjunction with events.
  • Results blocks will not be used – results will be on-line only.
  • Surfaces at the registration area will be disinfected regularly.
  • Events will use pre-entry to avoid cash handling.
  • Touchless punching (SI-Air) will be enabled where possible.
  • Competitors should follow currently advised social distancing and hygiene practices.
  • Please do not attend an event if you are unwell with respiratory symptoms, or are in quarantine.
  • If you pre-enter, and later absent yourself for health reasons, a refund will be provided.

The situation is extremely fluid and may change rapidly, so please check the OT website for updated information before each event. We will continue to follow government advice.

Decision on the Australian Orienteering Championships 2020

The OT Board, in conjunction with Warwick Moore, AOC2020 Event Director, and Blair Trewin, OA President, are currently considering options for AOC2020. A decision will be made at the next Board meeting on 28 March, and we will let all orienteers know as soon as possible.
