Wed 3rd Feb 2010 - Waterworks Reserve - Southern Summer Series
Starts between 4.30 and 6.00 pm.  Assembly at the waterworks entrance.    Long, Medium and Short/beginners courses.  All welcome.  Premarked maps.  Courses approx 3.5 km, 2.5 km, 1.5 km.  By now the Christmas dinner should have been well and truly run off and the target should be top fitness for the start of the orienteering season in March.  Any questions to Bert Elson on 62342991

Wed 10th Feb 2010 - 5 Mile Beach - Southern Summer Series
Last of the southern summer series.  Starts between 4.30 and 6.00 pm.  Assembly at the 5 Mile Beach village green.    Long, Medium and Short/beginners courses.  All welcome.  Premarked maps.  Courses approx 3.5 km, 2.5 km, 1.5 km.  This is the last event in the series – your chance to show you will be a force to reckon with in the 2010 orienteering season!  Any questions to Bert Elson on 62342991

Sun 14th Feb 2010 - Belbins Rd Cambridge - MTBNav Sprint
Location - follow Tasman Highway towards airport. Past Tunnel Hill, take left exit to Cambridge. After 250m, Belbins Road runs west. Follow Belbins Road 1km.
Event - mountain bike local event with two similar short courses of about 3km. Relay format of two riders per team. Each rider rides different course. First tags with second by hand touch at relay changeover. Results based on time from when first rider starts until second rider finishes. Maps pre-marked.
Start - choose time between 10am and 12 noon. Two minute start intervals. Both riders in team go to start at same time, with the second waiting at changeover. Two teams can race head to head by choosing same start time. Max of 2 teams can start at same time. Starter will ensure first riders do different courses.
Entry - enter on the day at the event.

Notes - assistance available for new riders. Can enter as pair, or alone and be paired with another rider. Really keen riders can ride a second time with a different partner to see if they can achieve a faster time, at no extra cost.

Location: Meet at the car park just north of the TCA cricket grounds.
Start Times: Turn up either at lunchtime or after work. Lunch session starts are between 12noon and 1.30pm and after work starts between 4 and 6pm. Registration is from 11.30am and 3.30am respectively.
Courses: Short 2.5 km (easy navigation) Long 4.0 km (moderate navigation)
Teams: Teams are made up of three or more members. Team members can be male or female and each member can chose either course length. The course chosen can change from week to week. Individual entries are fine - you will be allocated to an ad hoc team on the day.

Sun 21st Feb 2010 - Pittwater - Police Games/Southern Local
(held in conjunction with the Australasian Police and Emergency Games AP&ES Games)
Everyone is welcome to test their navigation skills in the sand dunes at Seven Mile Beach – the most challenging but fun navigation close to Hobart. Give it a go. How will you find your way compared with the police and emergency service workers?
Start:10:00 am onwards
Entries: Enter on the day for local competitors.  BUT AP&ES Games competitors MUST enter through their on-line entry form found at http://www.apandesgames.com.au/  On-line entries close 1 February.
Location: From Hobart, follow the Tasman Highway towards Sorell.  Shortly after passing the airport, turn right into Pittwater Road.  After approximately 3km, turn left into Centre Road.  Follow this road through the gate for approximately 5km and then proceed to the assembly area as indicated by the O signs.
Map: Pittwater (1:7500, 2.5m contours).  For the technical minded there will be an option of maps with contours generated in 2 different ways as a trial.
Courses: Long, medium, short and novice.  AP&ES competitors will be directed as to their course allocation. Sportident will be used and SI sticks will be available for hire if required.
Awards will be presented to winners and place getters taking part in the AP&ES Games.
Organisers are Lindsay Pender and the Butler Family, with a little help from the Whittington Family

Sun 28th Feb 2010 - Risdon Brook Reserve - Picturegaine
"Picturegaine 2" will be held at Hobart's Risdon Brook Reserve, duration 4 hours. The start will be at 12 noon, maps available from 10 am and briefing at 11:45am. The organiser intends to have quite a few close/easy controls that would be suitable for family groups with younger children. There will also be harder ones for the more experienced and venturesome. Light refreshments will be available after the event.
