Orienteering Tasmania Code of Conduct
All of us involved with orienteering in any way, whether as individuals, groups or official bodies will:
1. Treat all persons with respect and dignity.
2. Have proper regard for the rights and obligations of all others.
3. Acknowledge and accept that each of us has his / her own unique motivations for being involved.
4. Respect the right of each of us to be involved in the activities, events and tasks of the Association
as we choose.
5. Support opportunities for each of us to be involved as we choose.
6. Accept responsibility for our own safety and that of others while not absolving Orienteering
Tasmania of its duty of care.
7. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner that does not conflict with the interests of
Orienteering Tasmania and Orienteering Australia.
8. Use appropriate channels to object, complain, express concern or criticise.
9. Admit our mistakes and accept that mistakes will happen despite the best efforts of all concerned.
10. Respect the law and customs of the places we visit as orienteers, including foreign countries.
11. Respect the confidentiality of information which comes to us in the course of our involvement.
To protect the health, safety and well being of all the people participating in the activities of
Orienteering Australia, and in the activities of its Member Associations (e.g. OT) and clubs,
Orienteering Australia has developed and issued Codes of Behaviour. They form Attachment D to
OA's Member Protection Policy. The OA Policy is on the OA website and is more easily found at
