MTBNav EVENTS 2010

May 16th (Sun): Local MTBNav event - Dry Poles Road, Ellendale

Location:

Dry Poles Road is some 72kms from Hobart, about four kms south of Ellendale, 5kms north of Westerway, and some 14kms south of Meadowbank Lake in the Derwent Valley, and runs to the west off Ellendale Road. Look for the street and orienteering signs at the junction of Dry Poles Road and Ellendale Road, then follow the orienteering signs along Dry Poles Road to the assembly area. Thanks to Norske Skog, Gunns and Forestry Tasmania for access to the forests.

Description:

Course area is mainly pine plantation with mature forest and some native forest, with  semi-cleared blocks. Riding tracks are undulating, and many are becoming a little overgrown, but remain enjoyable. There is a good network of gravel logging roads. Hills and rougher tracks exist around the edges for the experienced rider. Much of the riding will be off-road. Good route choice exists on especially the longer courses.
